Your data
Privacy policy
Gizmo is a small team, and this website collects very little personal data. This page sets out what we collect, why, who sees it, how long we keep it, and how to use your rights under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

At a glance
- We only receive personal data when you email us.
- No analytics, advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
- We never sell your data.
- Questions or requests: support@gizmoalgo.com.
Who's responsible for your data
Gizmo ("we", "us") is the data controller for this website. Company details to follow. For anything privacy-related, write to support@gizmoalgo.com.
What we receive
This site has no sign-up or enquiry form that sends data to us. The “Email us that you're done” button on the get-started page just opens your own email app with a message to fill in. Nothing is sent unless you press send, and then it reaches us as a normal email. The “email me a link” box on that page isn't connected yet and sends nothing. When you email us, we get your email address, any name you use and whatever you write. Our web host's servers also process technical information, including your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, to serve the site and protect it.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- Answering your email and discussing whether Gizmo suits you. Legal basis: taking steps at your request before a contract, and our legitimate interest in handling enquiries.
- Helping you get set up as a client, for example guiding you through Vantage and V Social. Legal basis: performing our contract with you.
- Protecting the website from spam, abuse and attacks. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
- Marketing emails, sent only if you've given consent, which you can withdraw whenever you like. Writing to us doesn't add you to any mailing list.
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we've weighed them against your rights and kept our use narrow. You can object at any time.
Who else sees it
We don't sell personal data. Hostinger hosts the website and provides our email, so emails you send to support@gizmoalgo.com are stored on Hostinger's mail servers. MyFXBook supplies the performance chart image on our homepage. Your browser fetches it directly from MyFXBook, which therefore receives your IP address and browser details. Nothing you email us is passed to MyFXBook. We may disclose data where the law requires it, or to protect our legal rights.
Cookies
There are no analytics cookies, advertising cookies or tracking pixels on this site, and the MyFXBook chart doesn't set any cookies.
The get-started guide remembers which step you're on and what you've ticked, using your browser's local storage. That record stays on your device, is never sent to us, and only exists so you can pick up where you left off. The guide's “Start again” button clears it, or you can clear it in your browser settings.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that go no further: deleted 12 months after we were last in touch.
- Clients: kept for the length of the relationship plus six years, where we need it for legal, tax or accounting purposes.
- Marketing consent: kept until you withdraw it.
Your rights
You can ask us to give you a copy of your personal data, correct anything inaccurate, delete it, or limit how we use it. You can tell us to stop using it where we rely on legitimate interests, and to stop marketing at any time. You can ask us to send it to you or another organisation in a common format (portability). Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it. Email support@gizmoalgo.com to make a request. We'll respond within one month and normally won't charge.
Decisions made by people, not software
No decisions about you are made purely by automated means, including profiling. Every email is read and answered by a member of the team.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, and only the Gizmo team can access our email and systems.
Raising a concern
Please tell us first at support@gizmoalgo.com so we can try to put things right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Updates
If this policy changes, we'll update the date shown at the top of the page.
